Going Rogue An American Life By Sarah Palin   by Raul Gu

Sarah Palin’s new “Going Rogue: An American Life” is a book that is designed to capture all of those extraordinary moments of the most famous resident of the American state of Alaska. The former governor of Alaska decided to switch her calm-quiet lifestyle for that of a more public political figure when she accepted the vice-presidential nomination from John McCain. In a surprising move by former presidential candidate John McCain, he selected Sarah Palin to become his running mate making her the second female candidate and the first Alaskan candidate to participate in any of the party’s national ticket.
At the time of her selection as a vice-presidential candidate, the Republican Party was in need of a major change. Barack Obama was in a roll; the democrats were energizing their crowds and looking stronger than ever.
The presidential race suffered a major shake-up when Sarah Palin accepted the GOP’s nomination. Headlines of all of the major newspapers across the world described how the Maverick had managed to do it again. With the help of Sarah Palin, John McCain managed to make the Republican Party relevant once again. And in late June of 2008 (Only 5 months before the presidential election) the Republican Party was leading in most of the polls across the US.
It was clear that Sarah Palin’s portrait of American sweetheart had caught the attention of millions and at the same time managed to move those liberals towards the Republican base. By August 2008, the GOP enjoyed it’s best month of the presidential race. Millions were moved by Sarah Palin’s humble roots in Alaska, considered at some point during August the most patriotic women in the US, Palin exploited her situation (by having her son in Iraq) as a real American, a working mom, and wife of a blue-collar union man.

Sarah Palin Self Destruction

In the later months, Palin was starting to divert from the McCain camp. Rumors began to fly that Palin was making her own agenda and not including the McCain staffers in it.
“She is a diva” was a comment made by a McCain staffer. And the staffer went on to add how she “was becoming rogue”.
The biggest mistake took place with only 3 months left in the presidential race. By this time, the McCain staff was not including Palin in their strategic decisions and both the Palin’s and McCain’s camp were starting to pull in different ways.
In late September 2008, Sarah Palin made the infamous mistake to meet with Katie Couric. The interview became a total debacle for the GOP. Katie Couric an Anchor at CBS, made Sarah Palin sound inexperienced, ignorant, and completely unfit to take a leadership role.

Tina Fey Impersonation of Sarah Palin

After her infamous Katie Couric interview, Sarah Palin became the joke of the Late Night shows. Saturday Night Live took the price for the best impersonation of Sarah Palin. In one episode, Tina Fey while impersonating Sarah Palin made a statement about how she can see Russia from her Alaska home. This statement was so powerful that viewers later linked the real Palin about the ignorant demographic mistake.

But how did Sarah Palin go Rogue?
